Hillstone Primary School – Website Accessibility Statement

Hillstone Primary School is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to as many people as possible.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2 AA) due to the minor issues listed below.

What we know is accessible

PDF Documents

Most of our PDF documents are newly created and exported directly from modern software. This means they include:

  • Searchable text
  • Tagged headings and structure
  • Logical reading order
  • Accessible formatting

This significantly improves accessibility and reduces common PDF‑related issues.

Video Content

Our videos are embedded using up‑to‑date platforms such as YouTube, which provide:

  • Auto‑generated captions
  • Keyboard‑accessible controls
  • Compatibility with screen readers

Known limitations

We are aware of some minor accessibility issues that we are continuing to improve:

  • A small number of older or externally supplied PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers.
  • Some video content may rely on auto‑generated captions rather than fully verified transcripts.
  • Some decorative or legacy images on the website may not yet include descriptive alternative text.

We review these areas regularly and update materials when possible.

Requesting information in accessible formats

If you need any information on this website in an alternative format — for example:

  • Accessible PDF
  • Large print
  • Audio description
  • Braille
  • Easy‑read formatting

Please contact us:

Where a Braille version is requested, Hillstone Primary School will arrange transcription through the Local Authority Visual Impairment (VI) Support Service or, if required, an accredited Braille transcription provider.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing accessibility regulations.
If you are not satisfied with how we respond to your request, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for independent advice.
