We will be investigating everything to do with Autumn! We will look at what changes can be seen in the outside environment. Also, how animals cope with the changes and stories related to their adventures.
Come on a story-telling adventure as Nursery explore a variety of fairy
tales and alternative tales to encourage their love of reading and
story-telling! Children will learn, act out and re-tell traditional tales
whilst building their understanding of story structure and main events in stories.
We will be investigating the life cycles of many animals including chicks, frogs and butterflies.
Children will be the drivers in their exploration of colour throughout this project. They will mix, compare, sort and create colour using a variety of media. Each week, children will focus on a new colour to learn about it’s tones, also
exploring how to use colour to communicate thoughts and feelings.
To begin to compare things from the past by looking at videos or photos e.g. That car looks different from my mum’s car.

Physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others.
You will be expected to record reading in your child’s diary. This is a fantastic resource for the children to use, but also key for parent and teacher communication. Please read with your child, at least 3 times per week and record this in their diary with further comments.
As children prepare for their transition into Reception, it is important children begin to develop independence when dressing and changing. Encourage your child to practice getting their coats on, zipping them up, along with putting shoes and socks on. Your child can practice putting socks on and use a scrunchie to put over their feet!
Your child will be bringing home a name frame to support them with their name writing, please practice at home and develop children’s confidence to explore letter shapes and direction when writing.
Good attendance and punctuality is essential to help your child achieve the best they possibly can.
Every week the attendance cup is awarded to the class with the best attendance – hopefully our class can win the cup lots of times this coming term!
We will also be awarded points in the Punctuality League. Let’s see if we can beat last year’s score.
Please ensure children wear the correct school uniform, including black shoes and plain socks. Jewellery must not be worn. Please label all items so that they can be easily reacquainted with children if they are mislaid. This includes the inside of coats, shoes, hats, gloves and scarves.
We aim to teach the children about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Children will have fruit, water and milk each day.
We are committed to providing excellent food that is healthy, tasty, nutritionally balanced and is presented in an attractive way that the children will enjoy.
