OUR TOPIC IS Good To Be Me

Good To Be Me is a science topic. The children will learn about how to keep themselves healthy, including eating a balanced diet, exercising and keeping their bodies clean. We will be conducting investigations to find out why soap is important for washing our hands and to show the impact of exercise on our bodies. This will also link to our Design and Technology work this half term, where children will be designing and making their own healthy sandwich or wrap to enjoy at a class picnic.

This topic will also cross over into our Hillstone Lifeskills lessons, as we will focus on building self-esteem and independence in readiness for Year 3.

the history of the canals, cars, trains and ’planes and the impact
on the way we live.

OUR TOPIC IS Let’s Go On A Journey!

This half term our topic has a geography focus. We will be building on our knowledge from Year 1, learning about the continents and oceans. We will also identify hot and cold areas of the word in relation to the equator and the North and South Poles. The children will be using compasses to give directions and learning about the four basic compass points.

Physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others.

CLASS 2D

It would be extremely useful if children could bring in a pair of gym pumps and a pair of trainers. During the cold weather, please provide warm clothing for lessons outside.

Learning diaries and
